Dear Signatories of our call to safeguard intellectual freedom, dear readers of this newsletter,

After the holidays and the relative respite that accompanies it, here are some News:

1. As you know, the Joint Administrative Committee met on July 29 decided not to impose any sanction Vincent Geisser. In August, it received a letter signed by the Director General of CNRS, Dr. Arnold Migus, inflicting a warning. Autism in our universities there is a new illustration. Or almost 5500 signatures, or the conclusions of the Joint Administrative Committee (which met for no less than 14 hours!) nor the support of various international scientific institutions have been moving the Director General of CNRS. You can read the letter notifying the penalty by clicking here. You can also remind you the entire history of the case and access many other documents by visiting the website http://www.liberteintellectuelle.net/

2. I suggest you schedule a meeting in the fall, for those who want and have a little time to create a "cell intelligence "and the idea had emerged in early August. Similarly, if you have a concrete proposal to be done to attract again the attention of the Minister of Higher Education and Research on the drift, n ' Feel free to let me know.

3. Intellectual freedom is not violated only in France but also elsewhere. Our friend Israel Neve Gordon may be dismissed from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev for published an article in the Los Angeles Times denouncing the policy of his country and called for a boycott of Israel. can not quite agree with what he proposes, but it advocates measures to silence are not worthy of a democratic country. An international petition circulating to support it. I made a small paper in Rue 89 to draw attention to this painful and disturbing case. You can read it by clicking here . You will find various links, including one leading to the petition to support Neve Gordon.

I cordially greet you, Esther Benbassa
